Victoria III

Victoria III, the latest sculpture completed this August (2023), was an unfinished piece that I had kept alongside materials and tools, waiting to tackle it, and it seemed that the day would never come. Finally, after finishing the last sculpture in the ‘Connections / Infinities’ series, I did it, and now I am sharing the latest photos of the piece.

I have been interested in the theme of Victories or Nike since I was young and discovered the Winged Victory of Samothrace during a visit to the Louvre in Paris. Located on one of the museum’s staircases, it made a huge impression on me. Often, the forms we see leave an impression on our thoughts, then on our unconscious, and affect us by suggesting new forms. Everything we see affects us, and we filter it to suit ourselves in order to create our own interpretations and personal catalogues of forms. That is what happened to me in relation to the ‘Winged Victory of Samothrace’.
