I do not work based on any preconceived ideas, only from the most basic forms, ideas such as: long, narrow, round, solid, rough, or many others that do not define objects as visions of a world already lived, but as sensations or enigmas that seek to be resolved and which do nothing but pose new mysteries.
The lines, volumes and silhouettes emerge automatically from the background or the surface, perhaps from intuition, I don’t know if from experience or mere repetition.

Elevaciones / Elevations

The first pieces in the Elevations series date back to 2019. They are sculptures that emerge from the ground, usually with a base that allows them to rotate. In 2021, I produced the first suspended elevation.

When I design a new sculpture, I surround myself with the elements I have previously created to build it. I cut semi-curved pieces of various dimensions and begin to compose and join them together, starting with the first one, looking for expansive or more closed and elliptical shapes.

For me, these pieces have a high energy component in themselves, as I paint, sand and polish them to achieve the right textures; this means that my hands touch and press them numerous times in that final polishing stage, so I establish a very strong relationship with the material.

Las primeras piezas de la serie Elevaciones se remontan al año 2019. Son esculturas que surgen del suelo, normalmente con una base que permite su giro. En 2021 produje la primera elevación suspendida.

Cuando proyecto una nueva escultura, me rodeo de los elementos que he elaborado previamente para construirla. Corto piezas semicurvas de diversas dimensiones y empiezo a componer y unir desde la primera, buscando formas expansivas o más cerradas y elípticas.

Para mí, son piezas que poseen un alto componente energético en sí mismas, ya que las pinto, lijo y bruño para conseguir las texturas adecuadas; esto implica que mis manos las tocan y presionan numerosas veces en esa etapa final de bruñido, por lo que establezco una relación muy fuerte con el material.
